SwissINCA in progress: a sub-project to disseminate and enrich the results of INCA in Switzerland
Within INCA, our partner SUPSI has been granted a side money project from the Mercator Schweiz Foundation.
Named SwissINCA, this initiative aims to utilize and share the results and content of the INCA project in Switzerland until June 2026. This approach adds significant value to the project by enhancing its dissemination and implementation within Switzerland. Additionally, it allows for the inclusion of extra, unplanned outputs, thereby enriching the overall project.
SwissINCA builds on INCA’s approach and results and will focus on three main elements: the educational tool on digital platforming processes, awareness-raising and citizen empowerment; the video-documentary on the impact of large technology companies and platforming on society; and the exhibition, capable of translating learning and knowledge of internal aspects of digital platforms into an original and innovative ‘language’.
The project addresses the challenge of creating a systemic educational impact. To tackle this issue, they plan the following actions:
- The use of the educational tool for a specific test, first in the Ticino area with teachers and two middle school classes and then with the track to scale-up in Switzerland.
- The screening of the INCA video documentary in a prominent public location in Ticino, specifically at I2a, the Institute of International Architecture located in Villa Saroli, Lugano. This event will be followed by a debate featuring teachers, educational and urban policymakers, and didactic experts. They will discuss the potential and methods for incorporating the video into school activities, as well as exploring its use in other supporting and parallel initiatives, in conjunction with the educational module.
- Staging the exhibition open to the public and with a specific presentation for teachers and students of the schools that will test the educational module and beyond.
- Presentation of the Swiss experience in testing the educational module during a public workshop of the INCA and SwissINCA projects in autumn 2025, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Democracy.
In addition, as a follow-up, the project will be disseminated to the Swiss national school system both at the thematic events in Ticino and at the thematic and innovative events of Swiss Campus Democracy and the State Secretariat for Democracy.
