INCA exhibition on data materiality opens at its second stop in Lugano

On October 30, the INCA exhibition, on this occasion titled Virtualità Materiali, opened in Lugano. After its first presentation in Bologna, the works by EXTENTS (McClain Clutter & Cyrus Peñarroyo)Morgane BilluartRául Silva, and soju.studio have now travelled to Switzerland, where they will share space with the works of Omar Tigrini at the Limonaia of Villa Saroli and offer an enriched and rethought experience for the public.

One of the new contributions of Virtualità Materiali is the installation Il Piccolo Circuito, which was presented by its creator Myriam Pol (USI SUPSInido) and marked the beginning of the opening event. It is a work aimed at children between 4 months and 4 years, intended to introduce the youngest visitors to the materiality of the digital. The little ones attending the event had the opportunity to interact joyfully with the work, which was unveiled for the first time on October 30 and will later become part of the USI SUPSInido spaces at the Campus Est USI-SUPSI in Viganello, where it will continue to serve as a place of discovery, play, and daily learning for children.

Following this presentation, INCA member Niccolò Cuppini (SUPSI) proceeded to introduce the exhibition, which is organized in collaboration with  Stiftung MercatorSUPSI, i2a, and Big Tech Watch – Think Tank, curated by INCA members Niccolò Cuppini (SUPSI) and Miryam Pol (USI SUPSInido), and based on a project by Carmen Lael Hines & Into the Black Box. Cuppini explained to the diverse audience that attended the event the context and essence of the artistic proposal, which seeks to offer audiences the opportunity to understand and explore the world made of raw materials, energy, and people that lies behind the seemingly immaterial economy projected by digital platforms, algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

An aperitif concluded the opening of the INCA exhibition, while also leaving the installations on view until November 22, with exciting events still to come that everyone is invited to attend!
