Barcelona OIL is underway
On 5 June, INCA’s Barcelona OIL was officially launched at an event co-organised by the University of Barcelona, INCA’s partner in charge of the innovation lab, and CIDOB, a research centre in international relations based in Barcelona.
The meeting emerged from the collaboration between INCA and another Horizon Europe research project called DignityFIRM, as well as the shared interest of CIDOB’s migration area and the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Barcelona. The objective was to gather experts, professionals, and stakeholders from the sector to discuss and reflect on the future of the platform economy. This goal was more than met, as 30 participants engaged in a productive day of discussions.
Claudio Milano, Olga Jubany, Verna Alcalde, and Fabiola Manicinelli, represented INCA by moderating and participating in various activities, sharing the results of our project, and attending talks during the different roundtables held throughout the day.
Three panels were held, each of them focused on a different topic (the impact on the working conditions of migrants, the impact on the urban space and the existing alternative models), and very interesting ideas flourished.
In the coming months, a policy brief will be developed based on the reflections of the event. The aim is to propose recommendations for a more equitable European governance model and ecosystem regarding the platform economy. We will keep you informed!
