How many deserts turn into processors? Where does the labor that connects us hide? \nIn the folds of everyday digital life—where every click seems magical and every package appears to arrive “out of nowhere”—this exhibition brings to the surface what the illusion of the virtual tends to hide: the material. \nVirtualità Materiali is the second stop of the INCA exhibition “Data Materialities”\, which was first shown in Bologna from September 20 to October 12\, and this edition will include new features and additions. It invites visitors to look beyond the screen and discover the infrastructures\, bodies\, and natural resources that lie behind every interaction with our devices. \nThe exhibition features six installations\, showcasing the works of EXTENTS (McClain Clutter & Cyrus Peñarroyo)\, Morgane Billuart\, Rául Silva\, soju.studio\, and Omar Tigrini. In addition\, four public events will be part of the program\, providing opportunities for discussion at the intersection of art\, technology\, and society. \nProgram \n\n\nOctober 30 – Opening event\n\n17:00–17:30 Il Piccolo Circuito – Space for play and discovery \n17:30–18:00 Exhibition presentation 18:00–19:00 Opening aperitif \n\n\n\n\nOctober 31 – Roundtable\n\n17:30–19:00 Behind digital platforms: New educational approaches for Ticino schools \n19:00–20:00 Aperitif \n\n\n\n\nNovember 19 – Workshop\n\n17:30–19:00 Social networks in the classroom \n19:00–20:00 Aperitif \n\n\n\n\nNovember 22 – Closing event\n\n17:30–18:30 Digital capitalism \n18:30–19:30 Aperitif \n\nOpening hours \n\nThursdays and Fridays: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nSaturdays: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM\n\n👉 [Discover all the details of the exhibition and the program in the following article]

SUMMARY:INCA at the Cooperative AI Conference
DESCRIPTION:11–14 November\, three members of the INCA team will attend the Cooperative AI Conference\, the first global event dedicated to cooperatives and artificial intelligence. \nThis gathering will explore questions such as: “As AI reshapes our world\, who decides its future — and who gets left behind? Will AI be governed by a few\, or can worker-led models inspire its development to serve the many?”What role can cooperatives play in this transformation? \nBuilding on these questions\, the conference will explore how the international cooperative network\, social movements\, trade unions\, and solidarity economy initiatives can collaborate with policymakers to design programs that support workers and promote the development of equitable and democratic AI systems. \nIn this context\, on November 12\, Niccolò Cuppini (SUPSI)\, Mattia Frapporti (University of Bologna)\, and Maurilio Pirone (University of Bologna) will lead a workshop titled “Exploring Data Logistics and the Future of Cooperation.” It will present selected excerpts from the INCA documentary on the data revolution\, which is currently in its final stages of production. Following the screening\, a discussion will take place on these themes.

SUMMARY:WORKSHOP: Social Networks in the Classroom
DESCRIPTION:On November 19\, as part of the Virtualità Materiali exhibition program\, a workshop on social networks in the classroom will take place at the Limonaia\, Villa Saroli (Lugano). \nThe new frontiers of technological development are transforming how knowledge is learned\, produced\, and shared. How can we design and experiment with innovative educational scenarios? \nThis session takes inspiration from an experiment carried out during the SUPSI course I mondi del lavoro\, where students created social media content as a form of assessment. These contents will be projected and will serve as a starting point for discussion. \nIntroductions: \n\nPaola Solcà (Head of the SUPSI Bachelor in Social Work)\nAngelica Lepori (Senior Lecturer-Researcher\, SUPSI)\nFabio Lenzo (Senior Lecturer)

SUMMARY:Closing Event of the Virtualità Materiali Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:On November 22\, the closing event of the Virtualità Materiali exhibition\, open since October 30\, will take place. In addition to being the last day to experience the artworks dedicated to the hidden materiality of the digital\, there will be an opportunity to learn about the research of Spartaco Greppi and Christian Marazzi\, prominent Ticino-based scholars\, on Digital Capitalism. \nOver the past decades\, a new form of capitalism has emerged on a global scale—a vortex of change that\, through digital technology\, has transformed the ways we produce\, distribute\, and consume\, as well as social imaginaries and relationships. Spartaco Greppi and Christian Marazzi have previously anticipated these transformations and will present their current research on the topic. \nSpeakers: \n\nSpartaco Greppi (Former Head of the Competence Center for Work\, Welfare\, and Society of SUPSI)\nChristian Marazzi (Economist and former SUPSI lecturer)\n\nDiscussant: \n\nBarbara Antonioli Mantegazzini (Head of the Competence Center for Work\, Welfare\, and Society of SUPSI)
