Global Convening on Monopoly Power
On 25-27 March, a global meeting on Monopoly Power will take place in Amsterdam, organised by SOMO, the Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations, which analyses the impacts and enablers of unjustified corporate power.
They underline that ‘in just a few weeks, the second Trump administration has become the poster child for the collusion between corporate and political power’. And aware that the extreme power held by a few corporations ‘are a risk to both our economies and democracy’, they call on civil society groups to come together and organise how to break their power.
In this context, a three-day event has been organized where activists, academics, and regulators will gather to strategize how to use anti-monopoly tools to protect democracy now.
The first two days will feature activities for invited guests, while the third day will include a public meeting for a broader audience, consisting of three talks in a talk show format.
- Monopoly power, a threat to democracy
- New problems, new solutions
- A global alliance against monopolies
More details will be published closer to the date.
